Uzboy

Uzboy

Uzboy an ancient valley with a chain of salt marshes and salt lakes, located along the northwestern outskirts of the Kara Kum and stretching for almost 55 km. Well preserved as a canyon with a width of 100-300m (at a depth of about 40-50m) to 4-6km (with an average depth of 20-30m). Modern archaeological data fully confirm the information of Herodot, Strabo and other ancient authors about the flooding of Uzboy, which makes them treat with confidence the reports of the water trade route from India to the Caspian Sea.
